The Opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at SMU

As Ayen and I headed down Mockingbird Lane towards Dallas Love Field Airport, dozens of police cars lined the street, waiting to block traffic for when President Obama’s motorcade headed to his fundraising event tonight.
People lined the streets with cameras, hoping to get a perfect shot of Air Force One flying overhead.
We pulled into the Southwest Airlines Headquarters on Denton Road where a security guard greeted us. SMU student journalists Lexie Hammesfahr and Ayen Bior talk about their trip to Dallas Love Field where they were on hand to catch Air Force One landing.
We’re with the media,” I said as I handed him the confirmation letters from the Communications department. “Thank you and please proceed to security to retrieve your press badges,” the guard said.
We thought it was going to be a simple process.
As we walked towards the entrance to the headquarters, video equipment in tow, people began to gather outside with cameras and cell phones waiting for the arrival of the President.
Getting access into the building was a feat in itself. The doors were keycard access only, so using the black phone on the wall was our only option.
